yes. Also, there's only so much to go around, not everyone can be rich, and someone has to do the dirty work, so to speak.

It's insane how narrow minded you both are it hurts.

I'm 13 years old, of course I'm not getting loving laid, but I bet you're totally drowning in pusillanimous individual!

No really, you should kill yourself.
I agree, kill yourself Glass.
Wow, do you feel good about yourselves? Telling a person to kill themselves over something they said on a forum.

Douchebags.

destroyer, it looks like you...

destroyed them.

But on topic, it slightly offends me fast food workers are asking for this much. A starting EMT makes around $16-17 and hour. So EMTs who need state certifications and training, as well as enter potentially life threatening situations, would get paid slightly higher then someone flipping burgers.

This is insulting.

At the same time you can't say either of them (both fast food workers and EMT's) are being paid properly. The overall base for lower income jobs should increase all together. They all should be able to sustain a family for gods sake.

$15/hr is a really bad figure.  Something like $8.10 sounds like a good figure.

well why dont we just double the wage of EVERYONE then.

you realize that the difference ratio will always be the same right? and not just between different careers, but between wages and cost of living.

giving people more money will change nothing. it will just be the same poverty and struggles, with a more inflated dollar amount.

But what if there was a curve applied to the number of hours you work.  Working somewhat like compound interest.

For the base of ease, say that your base wage is $10 an hour, compounding 10% per hour, starting at 2 hours.

# of hours workedWages
1$10
2$22
3$35.20
4$49.72
5$65.69

Now naturally the curve wouldn't be this steep, but it's the same idea.

They all should be able to sustain a family for gods sake.

why should every job be capable of sustaining a family anyway?
what an odd and ridiculous standard to try and force businesses to do.

having a family is your right to do, but you think a job should just pay you for it? just give you more money for loving some chick and popping out kids. while i, and other responsible people have to become educated and climb a job hierarchy for the same benefit?

making more money is a reward you earn, you dont get it simply because you need it.

It's really amazing how many of you are just awful cunts. Though I'm sure more than half of you are just parroting your parents views. But really how are you people saying the stuff you say without reading it and going man this is loving awful.

tl;dr middle-class, well-off teenagers/young adults discuss how the less fortunate are loving greedy

People need to understand that working at a fast food restaurant isn't worth the money you're making. It gets completely insane at times, to the point where $22/hr would be an acceptable wage which is why these people are asking for an increase. However as others have said before, you can easily be replaced. The wage you are paid isn't more so what the job entails/how much work there is, it's more of how difficult it would be to actually replace you, it's why being a manager gets you paid more, because they can't just hire anyone off the street to take your place.

If you riot, who cares? The company will cut their losses and give the jobs to people who aren't picky and NEED a job. These people should be happy they even have jobs as some people can't even find work at all and would be more than willing to take their place.

A slippery slope argument isn't really a great one.
