Author Topic: Snow Drop Gaming engine(next gen)  (Read 1905 times)

Gaming industry has derailed the purposed of gaming. Everyone looks for the little details now. It's very annoying listening to people talk about the specifics on graphics of a game. I hear it a lot. They should put more of their budget into voice acting, story development, and mechanics.
I don't mind. tbh I'd just like a big, pretty, physics simulator with guns. especially with some sort of sandbox mode and weapons like the gravity gun

Too bad most of the things in this engine have been done before on older consoles like the PS3 with GTA V. Nothing too impressive or new.
i really hope you're kidding. the ps3 looks nowhere near as good. gta v looks like stuff and runs at basically 15 frames per second. If this video is actually running real time on a CONSOLE, than that's really impressive. I don't think gta v has nearly the same level of physics, lighting, or particles that were shown here.
Besides it's going to follow the same fate as the CryEngine 3, cool for the first few months, out-mastered/dated in the next.
Literally handicapped. Cryengine 3 isn't outdated, and the point of an engine is that it can be modified so it works better with what you need it to. Cryengine 3 is still used today to make games that look much better than even the "next gen"games that are coming to ps4/bone.

edit: just noticed this
purpose of gaming.

lmfao

This is a pretty good looking engine for current-gen PCs.

...

Oh wait, this is supposed to be next-gen engine for consoles? Sorry, couldn't tell.

This trailer came out a while ago, kinda late

I just hope the division has as much time, effort and money put into the gameplay as it does the graphics

I hate to do this to you, but...

>graphics
>gameplay

There can be only one...

So pick one.

wut

I like how the curtain ragdoll has a bagillion joints and doesn't glitch through the window
*Clap clap clap*
That's what I call next gen :P

Graphics are important, just not as important as gameplay. A good game has graphics that compliments the gameplay, not the other way around.

The game industry these days act like it's some arms race. It's all about graphics benchmarks and tech demos that show the hottest new shader technologies or deep arguments about if there's a difference between 720p and 1080p. When was the last time a tech demo showed gameplay mechanics?

You could make a game that looks indistinguishable from real life, but the game could be complete stuff if the gameplay is bad.

um. never. because that would be dumb. tech demos are for showing off technology, not gameplay

I feel as if you're missing the point

I feel as if you're missing the point
there isn't much of a point because everything else you said is just your opinion

I already know that it's my opinion because I'm the one that said it :v

I know graphics are important, Ike. I should've made myself more clear, really.

What I meant was that it is rare for games to be made where the graphics compliment the gameplay, as you just said.

So yeah, you're right.

all trailers and showcases look like this, but the game will look NOTHING like this and you know it. look at e3 footage of other games for forget sake
