That is not actually the amount of BL IDs sold.  Anyone (including bots) can register for the forums without a key.  They just can't post anything until they link their forum account with their ID.

I guess I was referring to how we had 60k in the middle of November, and now we are at 80k.  Were the 50% and 75% sales really that effective?

I don't think total forum members correlates with IDs.
Most of the community here are dead accounts which are still counted.

Badspot completely foiled the bots plas by making it impossible to post without buying a key.

The forums still 60k members back in November.  Now it says 80k members.  I was referring to the member count.
