Option A: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1WEUq

Option B: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/bagrisham/saved/2yXr

I've never built a computer before and I want to be REALLY sure that I don't waste my money.

And yes, I'm aware that one is ~$480 right now and the other is $600,  they used to both be $~550 so I'm assuming that's from the price fluctuating and not because they're getting out dated.

Edit: and on top of that all of option A's parts seem to be having a massive holidays sale.

What a useless post.

OT: From what I hear, those R9 cards run hot and loud. I'd avoid them.

Seems like option a is the way to go for a frugal fella :o

gee thanks i could've just read the two posts above you to relive the same story
and the two posts above me share the same story!

Do the expensive one. :-)

What a useless post.

Can you post something useful.
Fine I'll contribute. Sheesh.

Option B comes with a game coupon so I'd maybe go with that.

The first one has one single 8 GB stick of RAM, it's better to have 2 x 4 GB sticks.

The reason being that if that single stick of ram arrives DOA you are out of luck until they send you a new one, at least with the 2x4 option you have the ability to work with one stick while sending the other back. Performance wise it makes no difference.

Actually, if you have 2 sticks they can work in dual channel mode, or something like that. I think it does perform better with 2 sticks.

It depends on the motherboard too.
