Author Topic: Yay I'm Screwed- Car Repair  (Read 2438 times)

So it turns out my transmission is on the fast track to dying. I got it looked at today and my only repair option is a complete rebuild and upgrade of the parts. They need to take the trans out, take out each part, upgrade parts that need it, and rebuild everything.

As of now I can still drive the car, but it slips going into 3rd gear. They can't tell when its actually going to go, could be tomorrow or could be months. But its eventually going to fully break and I'll lose 2nd and 4th gear.

Repairs like this average $2,600.

forget my life.

I would get it repaired as soon as possible personally. The thought of my car's transmission breaking only makes me worry about what other damage could occur upon it breaking.

Sorry to hear about your baby, Destroyer.

I wouldn't trust the complete word of people who work for car repair. Might want to check it out yourself to make sure what's going on is worth $2,600.

It's nice to see that your so excited with "Yay" in the title.  Lol

Anyways, sorry about your loss of a loved one and the funeral fees.

A failing transmission is something that's actually quite easy to recognize yourself and it's not a cheap thing to fix/replace.

Manual or automatic? Since the whole transmission is at fault I'm guessing you're driving an automatic, in which case you really are pretty much just forgeted.

Awww :C
Sorry to hear it.

Unfortunately its mostly the labor which costs so much. Transmissions are a bitch, especially newer car's transmissions. With the repair I'll get a new transmission with all upgraded parts and it will be automatically put under warranty for 2 years. I do have one test I want to run first though.

Yeah thats mostly out of spite for my car. I've pretty much been moping around ever since. I'm quite upset with the car, I've been holding back the urge to crash it into a wall. lol

I'm 60% sure Destroy drives a truck
51% sure it's a manual
30% sure it's some kind of modern, big truck. Like a dodge ram crew cab or something.

At the scrapyard we'd regularly crash vehicles that still ran into everything imaginable.

I wish it was manual. 2008 Ford Escape. An SUV which I've put hours of work into customizing.

Looks like me getting my manual 370z will be put off a bit longer now, Tri. :/

2008 isn't that old of a model. Do you really tear the piss out of the thing while driving?
