It needs to change the contents of a file to increase the download count every time.
Well then you should probably improve that

marble man tends to enjoy using his 'coding prowess' to make useless ways to exploit things for fun and then occasionally pitch a fit when people tell him to stop (not that he's an outright terrible coder, it's just not nearly as impressive as everyone seems to think)

i don't know if it's to get his ego stroked even more for doing absolutely nothing or what but it's concerning. not that it's entirely his fault that happens, but w/e

no

can I just say your system sucks spectacularly if such a pitiful unintentional attack will take you down

despite his actions being wrong, he pointed out a major flaw in your system that must be fixed.

i mean really, and then you posted about it

now everyone knows your server goes down without a fight with even casual dos'ng

seriously, that kind of dos wouldn't even slow down a residential connection launching it. toss in tor (which is like major no-no to doses, but if you're doing something that loving low quality (1 request a second) then you're not even slowing down tor. a considerate starfish, what a strange concept) and suddenly subpixel is forgeted and no one knows who did it.

with everyone dosing nowadays, it was incredibly stupid of marble to do it and for subpixel TO POST A VULNERABILITY PUBLICLY ON HIS OWN loving SERVICE.

you're both at fault here for very different things. next time, take this kind of stuff up in PMs so sensitive info doesn't get disclosed.

So much this. And his previous post, too. lol

I didn't even see it that way. Good job pointing that out, Lugnut. That was an important point all of us missed. xD

More important question is why marble man would spam download stuff without using a proxy or at least changing his dynamic IP before doing it.

You can easily take down most amateur websites anyway, I don't see what your point is. He's using cheap shared hosting and each request has to hit the shared disk a high number of times every second, including to transfer the file being requested. Cheap shared webhosting isn't build to withstand this kind of traffic - your expectations are stupid and your understanding is poor. Comparing this to attacking a residential connection is comparing apples and oranges.

Subpixel isn't at fault at all, it's just marble man playing with stuff he doesn't understand and it having unintended consequences. Not to mention running up someone's bandwidth bill just to raise a download count is ridiculous and I've banned people from RTB for doing the same thing.
