Author Topic: my headphones are broken and i cant listen to anything on the pc  (Read 814 times)

right now i have a problem. The top of the cable has broken off and the top of it is stuck inside my computers audio port (i couldn't care less anyway since i can just get USB headphones) so the headphone cable looks like this:

the top of that cable (the pointy part)

is stuck in the line out (headphones):

now here is the real thing skullcandys headphones. they can be really crappy. i got my headphones for 80 pounds on amazon. since i live in the us now there's no giving it back, these headphones have had a problem where they sometimes forget up. such as sometimes i can only hear stuff on one side unless i move the cable around like if its a 80s TV trying to switch channels.

Now i can only try to get the top of it out of the computer and guess what this is a new PC so forget. I have turtle beaches hopefully i can plug them into my pc or i can get USB headphones so i don't have to forget about

be aware of some headphones you buy

Nope im not losing all of my data

Man, there have been a lot of broken headphone topics withing the past few weeks.

(Sorry for not really contributing OP ;_; )

Cover it in wet towels, put it in the bathtub, attach two large magnets to both sides and let it sit for 8 hours. That should work.

Next time dont spend 80 pounds on badly built earbuds from china.

get a screwdriver and take out your sound card, stick a paper clip into it and push out the earbud jack. (You will have to take the card apart)

Its just a myth. I tried it and it did nothing.

The reason why you have to fiddle with it to get it to work is because of poor soldering, but it sounds like your whole jack is crappy, if you wanted to you could solder on a new jack which would cost like $2 and save your headphones if you're really into them.

do you think you're smart for saying this or something

lool does the computer still think there are headphone plugged, because of the bit stuck in there?

Do you? Taking a magnet beyond that of a screwdriver to your computer is pretty much always a bad idea.

it would be fine if you didnt use moving parts or a peice of the circuit relied off of magnetism to keep information. it's just a simple jack. it isnt hard to remove, plus if you do break it you could always solder a new jack on/go out the pusillanimous individual way and buy a new motherboard.

Alternatively, do something that would actually work without considerably less risk.

Really good gripping tongs. Then reattach it to the headphones if you're a good wiring master. If not, go to the nearest technician.
