A better guide for new users
Hello new users! Welcome to blockland! I will go through a brief guide of how to play blockland!
How to change your name
This can be confusing for some people. If you are already in a server, press esc and disconnect. Then, on the bottom of the main menu, you will see 2 buttons; name and key. Leave the key one alone, unless you haven't already entered your authenciation key. Click name, and enter the name you want. Then, click enter, and if you're name isn't already used by someone, you will get it! Congrats!
The Esc Menu
The esc menu seems complex, but don't worry! I will get you through it! There are 8 buttons on the esc menu; Options, player list, load bricks, save bricks, disconnect, quit, admin menu, and mini-games. Some of them are pretty self-explanatory, but just in case you don't understand, I will go over what each button does.
-The disconnect button disconnects you from the server you are on.
-The quit button disconnects you from the server you are on, and closes blockland.
-The load bricks button lets you load bricks. It will only work if you are admin on the server or if you are hosting a server. It's pretty self explanatory.
-The save bricks button lets you save bricks, even if you aren't admin. Please don't abuse this. To save bricks, click the save bricks button and then type in the title you want to save it as, and click save. It may take a while.
-The player list button shows a list of all players in the server you are on. It can also be accessed by pressing f2. The top of the player list will say something like x/z players- x is the amount of players online, z is the max amount of players online. To the right of the x/z, it will show you the title of the server. To the right of the entire list, you will see the buttons, like "build, full, no trust, build" and all of those other ones. These buttons are for something we like to call "trust". Now, you must have a players trust to edit their bricks. These work like this:
-Build trust only lets you build on their bricks
-Full trust lets you delete, paint, and do whatever to their bricks
To send a trust request, open the player list, click on a name (it should highlight and do nothing else), and click what trust you want to send them; build or full. Do not spam the trust because you can be automatically kicked from the server for doing this. They can either reject or accept your trust. They can also ignore you which will reject all trust requests you send them automatically. The trust demote buttons do the same, except they will only work if you already have highlighted a name of someone who already has your trust. No trust removes trust entirely; they can't do anything to your bricks. Build trust demotes them to build only trust; they can only build on your bricks.
The first 2 mini-game buttons only work if you are hosting a mini-game. I will get to the mini-game thing later; for now, here is what those buttons do.
-The invite button works like the trust button does, except it invites someone to join your mini-game.
-The remove button works like the trust button does, except it removes someone from your mini-game only if they are already in it.
-The un-ignore button un-ignores someone's mini-game requests. You can ignore them if they send you a mini-game request, by the way.
This may seem complex, but don't worry, you'll get the hang of it!
Okay, those buttons under the title are just for sorting- clicking them will change the sorting pattern. It's hard to explain, but click one just so you can get the hang of it. Most of them put the stuff in alphabetical order or numerical order.
There, that's the whole list.
The admin menu
The admin menu works like the trust buttons do; highlight someone's name, and click some button. And the buttons here are kick, ban, and more. Kick just kicks someone from the game; they have to reconnect but they can rejoin at any time. The ban button can ban a user forever, or for a set amount of time, and you can also add a reason.
-The environment button changes the environment. This is kinda self-explanatory, and it would take forever explaining what everything did.
-The spy button lets you spy on a player. ooh, spooky! Can also be used by typing /spy (user name here, no ( ) )
-The game mode button lets you change the game-mode, like that selection thing when you start a game.
-The clear bricks button lets you clear someone's bricks, even if they have left a game. You can also ban them too, even if they have left.
-Those buttons at the top; again, sorting buttons
And those are about all the buttons
The options menu
I am not going to go over what everything does. Sorry. But I will give you a brief explanation of each tab.
-The option menu can be accessed from the esc menu or by pressing ctrl+o
-There are 6 buttons; graphics, audio, network, controls, advanced, and avatar options. Most seem self-explanatory.
-Avatar options let you change your avatar and clan tags.
-Controls let you change what we like to call key binds. These are the keys set to do stuff, like take a screenshot (which is ctrl+p)
-Advanced is some advanced stuff, don't change these unless you know what you are doing. Draw distance lets you change how far you can see bricks. Useful for reducing lag.
Mini-games
Mini-games are small games on a server that you can make without admin. They don't even need to be games; they can be used for sorting.
Ugh, here we go, this is gonna take forever c;
-There are 3 buttons; join, leave, and create. The first 2 are self-explanatory. The create button though- here we go-
Clicking the create button will bring up a menu. On this menu you can change the name of your mini-game, the mini-game's color, and the load-out, and other stuff.
-Invite-only makes your mini-game only joinable if you invite someone to be in it.
-Include all players' bricks makes it so that every players' bricks are used; if you don't check this, you cannot have other players spawn items and be able to use them. Same for vehicles
-Players use own bricks makes it so that players are able to own their own items and vehicles. Other players cant use them.
-The score menu is for changing how the score works; for example, changing dying to 1 will mean that every time a player dies, they will get 1 point.
-The gameplay menu lets you change the respawn time of things, the damage options, and the playertype. All of these options apply for all bricks, players, etc. Changing the playertype will change what you look like and other stuff while in the mini-game.
-Next is the load-out. This is kind of self-explanatory.
Controls
-The keys W, A, S, and D move your player around.
-Space bar to jump
-Hold right click to jet
-Enter to plant a brick
-Click to fire
-Building keys vary for different keyboards. For laptops, the keys for moving bricks are:
P, O, I, U, J, K, L, ;, comma, and period. I do not know what the regular keyboard controls are, but I do know they are for the numpad.
P moves the brick up 1 whole stud (studs are the measuring unit for blockland; each square on a brick counts as 1 stud)
O rotates the brick
U rotates the brick the other way (kinda useless)
J moves the brick 1 stud to the left
K moves the brick 1 stud down
L moves the brick 1 stud to the right
Comma moves the brick down 1/3 quarters a stud (all studs = 3 plates stacked, so this would move it down a plate)
Period moves the brick up 1/3 quarters a stud
Other controls
-Press [ to turn your light on and off
-Hold LSHIFT to crouch (you can crouch and jet at the same time, as well as you can jump, crouch, and jet at the same time)
The main menu
The main menu, like other controls, is pretty self explantory. You have the buttons:
-Player
-Join a game
-Start a game
-Options
-Key
and name
All of those are self-explanatory, except for the key button, which you shouldn't worry too much about. Just enter the authenciation key you were given when you bought blockland. Steam users, I don't know about you.
