Author Topic: Upsides and downsides to the Steam version?  (Read 824 times)

Heyo. I haven't played Blockland in a long while, and it's good to see things are still mostly the same. Glad a few things have been changed too.

Questions:
What are some of the upsides and downsides to using the Steam edition of Blockland? Are there added benefits? Are there features I won't be able to use? Will I still be able to use Add-ons in the same way? I don't know if this has been addressed before, but after I convert my Blockland key to a Steam key, will I still be able to use my original Blockland key outside of Steam?

upsides: it's in your steam library and you never have to remember your key again. trading cards. badge. emoticon. achievements. join servers from your steam friends list. launch with steam easy peasy
downsides: ---

no features are removed and add-ons work the same way. you can still use your key without steam if you want

downside: badspot still needs to fix some authentication issues with steam versions

that is not a permanent downside and not what he is asking about

Downside: The Blockland serial you register with Steam is permanently attached to your Steam ID. You will not be able to play with another serial key using your Steam account as far as I know.

he hasn't decided yet
  • Some people tied a key to their steam account but want to use a different key - I'm a bit hesitant to completely open the multiple account friendry floodgate onto steam.  I'll have to think about this.
it's barely a downside tho, unless you get your key revoked

only downside if you actually plan on getting banned. in every other case, it just makes a guarantee you can use that one forever, no matter what.

nah that won't interfere with alts on the forum. you'd just have to buy the key through the website like normal

as in key banned/revoked, whatever.

I don't plan on ever switching to Steam unless I'm forced to. Other Mac users will understand why.

How do I switch to steam?

thanks, but how do I put my old add-ons into the steam version?
move them from your normal add-ons folder to the one in your steam directory
