This has been discussed for awhile, so I've decided to post a Safe Zone add-on. It allows you to lay down properly-measured Safe Zones without the use of F10. A 'Safe Zone' is defined as an area where damage/impulse/etc cannot occur.

Note: You can't attack people inside while you are outside, attack people outside while you are inside, or attack people inside while you are inside. Apparently I needed to clear this up. The only way damage/impulse will occur is if both the attacker and the target are outside the Safe Zone.

Usage:

/makesafezone

/spawnsafezone

/delsafezone

/toggleSelf Delete

To actually MAKE a zone using /makesafezone is a small bit quirky. They can be spawned in any rectangular area, using the gun you are granted. To choose this area, you must first shoot a brick in the lower corner (any of them) of the build. Next, you have to shoot the OPPOSITE corner, on the other side. Finally, you have to shoot a brick representing the height.

This looks like a very good idea. I would actually modify this so that it allows me to make other kinds of zones, because I have my own kind of triggers I made that I would want to place around, and this would make life a LOT easier, and the accuracy would be much easier to make the correct size.

I'll give it a try next time I'm in game. Also, if this is a finished mod, why is it in modification discussion?

Its not for the basic players, i think he posted it for modders only.

It's not. I'm doing the same thing that you're thinking of doing, including a GUI. I decided to release a 'dumbed down' version of it (being safe zones only, with no GUI), just due to people asking for it. Once I finish the big fish, though, it'll be the followup to this, complete with arenas, shops, money-making, named areas, stacking areas, you name it, it's got it. Or, so goes the plan. That is why this is in discussion, and not released as a full mod.

The idea just came up with the hassle of having to do F10 and manually lay down everything. I usually run on a dedicated server, so that was clearly not an option. So it hit me, why not use something similar to the 'measure' tool? That's exactly what I did, and my lovable three-position method for making an area was born. But yeah. I released it for the benefit of the community, so enjoy. When I get more stuff together, expect more releases! <3

It centerprints it. To have it post normally, replace the commandtoClient with a messageClient, or such.

Can you add compatibility with physical zones, so we can set the gravity of certain areas? Do these zones have a saving method?

They are only saved if you save with the mission editor I think, but adding a saving system wouldn't be too hard for Dilt.

Oops. Left an echo in. But note, this is in Modification Discussion. Feel free to post edits, fixes, anything you want. I'll edit mine a bit, but it's nowhere near a full add-on. Suggestions and stuff are accepted, ideas always help. Thanks, Wedge, Terror. Saving is done in my Area Zones script, just need to make loading, and it'll be an easy port. I'll get on that after a bit.

In the meantime, feel free to post edits, your own versions, etc. This isn't a full add-on, just discussion based off of some I posted.

for some reason whenever I try to use the command "/makesafezone" it doesn't work...do you know why...I looked in the file on my Blockland folder and it only had the "safe-zone script" or whatever ...is there supposed to be another file in there...
btw, I tried to redownload it :/

Just the single file. It contains a small gun script - /makesafezone is supposed to put the gun straight in your hand.

Did you check it off under add-ons when making the server? Got to make sure.
