Imagine a device that scientists can use to manipulate DNA. I know you have heard stuff like this, but bear with me.
Basically, you would extract DNA from some sort of life form and insert it into the device. The device would be connected to a computer, and that computer would decode the DNA into a 3D model. You would then be able to change the model around however you like. You would export the model, the computer would translate the data back into DNA form, and the device would spit the actual DNA back out. Put the modified DNA back to the life form, it reproduces, and the product is -guess what?- the model that you created on the computer!
This would be either incredibly cool, incredibly creepy, or both.
