Author Topic: Are you a NOOB? come here and find out!  (Read 2399 times)

How they got the name newbie: Before it entered popular discourse by way of the Internet, the term "newbie" had a limited usage among U.S. troops in the Vietnam War as a slang term for a new man in a unit.

Meanings: Newbie is usually used to refer to a new person who has recently joined the group. Several alternate spellings and occasionally the original word, are used to refer to a member who is generally unwanted or disliked in the community

Noob

The game definition of noob is usually someone, often in online games who acts in offensive ways to other users or people that surround them and refuse to go away, or stay by any other methods for the sole purpose of annoying others. The word noob can also mean in an online game someone who did something stupid, or asked an obvious question. For example, if someone asks a question answered in the FAQ or is common knowledge, others will call that person a noob.

Newb

Newb is also considered a relatively new person to a game that is inexperienced and doesn't know what they are doing. This term is often addressed as newb(Newbie). However, in recent times this term is infrequently used and has been widely accepted as being replaced by noob.

Nub

Nub is currently the new way of typing or saying it.
 (from wiki)

So heres a list I came up with that will tell you if you are a noob:

1. If you are disrupting/ annoying another player these include:
A. Hammering people (unless in death-match)
B. Pinking people
C. Spamming
D. Random shooting
E. spawn killing

2. Building in all one color.
3. making a build out of 1x1x5's and 1x1s
4. Spamming the chatbox or advertising your website.
5. Banning someone because of their name or ID.
6. Random trust Invites
7. Asking for Admin or super-admin
8. Saving an internet server then claiming its yours.

9. If you Tell others to press Alt-F4.
Don't listen to those who say "Press alt f4 for a secret thing to be unlocked", alt f4 will close Block Land, its just a way people get on other peoples' nerves
10. Do not just build whatever or wherever you want, unless of course the server is a freebuild, many servers are previews of builds, or set up for games such as death-matches.
11. Try to use proper English, that means no this: Hiy i lik blooklanf does u!...
12. Don't join clans without asking first.
13.Could be noobish: Don't make any clans. Choose one of the existing ones, there are over 9000 clans!
14. Don't talk in all caps, it's interpreted as yelling, it makes you look like an idiot, it'll get you banned and it's not cruise control for cool.

The one that is extremely disagreeable is #13.

Most people dislike new clans if you make one you might be considered a noob. ill fix it for you.

I know, but not all new clans are nooby, some people may come from another clan driven community. (Ex. Counter-Strike, WoW, ect.)

USSR was a new clan once, MoTE was a new clan once, sometimes people just want to get together and build and I don't see what's wrong with it.

This is a list of: "If people are calling you a NOOB come find out why" Its not saying your a NOOB if you make one its saying that you might be considered a NOOB if you do.

I disagree with 2, and spawn killing IS a noob and really lame tactic. It works this way if your the host: You spawn kill everyone, everyone hates you and leaves server. If you're playing on someone elses server, you spawnkill, everyone complains to admin, admin bans them and you.

Just go with all the rules besides 2 and No hammering (Unless your not in deathmatch)

Banning someone because of their name or ID.

Lol that happens to me .

Wow this is total stuff, get you're facts straight.

What kills me is when a newb comes and tries to act like he's been here as long as the experienced members, they just look like poser jackasses. (which they are)

Fixed.

Also , CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL , DON'T DENY IT , YOU KNOW IT IS.

Why does a noob have the right to make this set of harsh and defining rules.

Rule number 2 isn't true, unless they use red colour only.
Rule number 6 might not mean it's a noob, but may be considered an idiot or a jerk.
Rule number 7 is the same, but if someone enters and say "HI CAN I BE ADMIN?!?!", then I'm glad to do "E_net4 banned Noob for # minutes: NO!"... Yes, it happened already.
Rule numbet 8 is quite agreeable, and it's the perfect way to become a perfect noob.
Rule numbet 11 may not be true, unless Blockland/1337 slang is not considered bad English (Like "Hai", "PWNT", "j00", 1337" etc).  :cookieMonster:
Of course, saying "how i get vehical?" just fails.
Rule number 13 has a point, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't make any more clans. Instead, one should be good enough of a member to make a clan, else join one.
