Some kids are just too stuffty. Physical force is always the most effective way to go about things, and when they deserve it, they deserve it.
Some kids are total brats and reprimanding and grounding them doesn't work.
Of course, there are those kids where no matter how hard you spank them, they will always say, "Doesn't hurt."
I tested these when I was little. I remember sampling both types. My mom said I was grounded from something once and I said, "I don't care" with a smile on my face, so she took something else. Same result. Kept going until....I honestly don't remember.
Another time, I got spanked and said, "Didn't hurt." so I got spanked again (harder). Same result. Pretty soon they were just not stopping so I just thought, "Heck I better stop this," and I guess I did.
Scars and bruises don't sound like spankings.
