Author Topic: Connection problems  (Read 640 times)

Ever since I got a new computer, I've had connection problems with it. When the connection bars are a 3-4 its very fast and I encounter no lag or FPS drops at all on it. But when it goes on a 5 bar, its like its on a 1 bar. It has alot of lag that it even disconnects me from games and makes Chrome have errors. When it lowers, everything is back to normal. Any contributions will be appreciated. And if your asking if my connection router is bad, its not. Its only bad when it goes to 5 Bars.

If you dont know what I mean by connection bars I mean this:

Don't use wireless its stuff anyway, if you have an Ethernet cable use it.

This happened to me 2 years back, but then I replaced wireless. 107.5mb/sec dl speed opposed to the stuffty 14mb/sec I got with wireless.

use ethernet

Or, alternatively, you can be helpful. See about setting an upper limit for your download speed, sometimes when you max out it begins to chug in an attempt to "force the internet through" I don't know how to put it any better while still sounding serious.

use ethernet
I'm on ethernet and its a hell a lot less reliable than my Wifi adapter, which I frankly left at my grandmas..

What the hell

How is 14MB/s slow?

It depends on the wireless card. I maintain the same speed with or without ethernet.

Also is it a laptop or desktop?

Get a wireless card that isn't stuff then. This isn't 10 years ago where wireless sucked.

Laptop.

Laptop.

Plugged in and charging?

I have this software bug with my battery where sometimes if it's plugged in it will say "plugged in, not charging" and it bugs out everything as in everything is turned to lower performance, GPU and wireless card. If I unplug it everything goes back to normal, or if I unplug and plug several times it will say "plugged in, charging" and the performance of everything will boost up. I don't know why that is, it's messed up but it works.
