Author Topic: We should welcome our noobs  (Read 1004 times)

As you know, with Blockland on steam now we are getting alot of these "noobs", and everytime I look on the server list, yes there are about 500 players on but only about 100 of them are on the servers.

I think this would be a good time to make somthing that our noobs will be interested in, such as zombie survival or boss battles or even kart races, I have seen a few people making new games already, such as Victory's murder mystery, I go on steams games alot, and here are some gamemodes that really attract the players:

Prop hunt - (Would be hard to make on Blockland maybe make a duck hunt instead)

Jail escape

Death Run - (simple, but needs a good map to get started some proper attention)

Boss Arena - (requires scripting knowledge)

Randomizer TDM

Stop it slender - (also requires scripting knowledge)

Come on blockland let's show our noobs what we really have to offer!

I do believe people have made most of these in the past, I have seen Jail Escapes, Death Runs I think, and Boss Arenas.

Please elaborate on the other three though.

Yes deathruns have been made in the the past but, there're not many "quality" deathruns right now.

I agree a bit with this, there are some new players that are joining and they are shown bad impressions of the game. I really hope most of them don't really take those into consideration of how the like the game. It also seems to me that the tutorial level isn't teaching enough, I'm not sure though because some people learn differently.

Prop Hunt - Already done, getting old

Jail Escape - Done to death, getting REALLY old

Death Run - this is pretty much the only one that hasnt been done much

Boss Arena (I'm assuming you mean boss battles) - Done before

Randomizer TDM - Done to death

Stop it slender (assuming you mean a slender game) - This is the only one that hasn't ever been done before.

Actually, we do have a renderman mod by Chrisbot6.

You're kidding right?

Lets not forget why we play blockland- to build.
A lot of servers currently are pushing away from the building aspect of the game. If a player wants to shoot some zombies, they'd play a zombie game (like dayZ)
I think well administrated city RPG's are blockland's assets (like Diggy's City RPG)
They present well scripted mods and beautiful builds while allowing players to construct.

Thats just my opinion anyway.

I couldn't agree more. Diggy has an excellent server, but sadly there aren't many players coming regularly.

i agree with furdle

why not an actual fortwars kind of game, like from gmod

you build a fort with limited assets in a first phase, then fight or whatever to destroy the forts in the second phase

Death Run - this is pretty much the only one that hasnt been done much
Huh? Death Runs have been hosted way too many times on Blockland right now, where have you been? Plus, they're not that fun in my opinion.

I would like servers based off games like for example DayZ more if they added something new that's different from the game it's based on, like building

Exactly.

People play blockland because its a sandbox game. Nobody looks at the game and thinks to themselves, "I bet this game has some cool team deathmatch servers!" Obviously someone may see that it is an option to play a TDM server in a review, but the main selling point is the creativity.
I for one NEVER play any kind of TDM/Jump Challange/Falling tiles/etc.
I play blockland to play City RPG's, making my own servers, talking to friends and building a random build which wont be used for anything (my vehicle collection for instance)

theres many creative mods out there like fort wars, city rpg, and even some custom made rpgs.
none of the good ones are being hosted. thats why we saw the constant downfall of players joining after a couple of days released on steam.
