Author Topic: Insomnia problem?  (Read 666 times)

The last few nights I've only been able to sleep around 3 or even 4 in the morning, and then I only get 3 or 4 or so hours of sleep. Today I stayed home from school because it got so bad last night that I didn't fall asleep until 5:30ish, half an hour before I had to wake up. And it's not like I was doing anything in bed, just laying there desperately trying to get some sleep. Should I see a doctor or something?

take some sleep medicine
drink some hot tea before bed, minimal sugar (or just use honey)

You just have a terrible sleep pattern.
Force yourself to go to bed earlier for long enough and you will go back to normal.
It wont be fast though.

This happens when you have 2 weeks off and a computer

You're able to fix the sleep cycle yourself.
During the nights you wake up at 5:30, have an alarm to wake you up after say, 3 hours.
The day following will be tiring, but try to keep wake with caffeine or physical activity. However try not to do or consume anything after say 8:00 PM, as you'll start to get tired again. If you go to bed at around 10 to 12, your sleep cycle should reset to something more natural.

Worked for me last night.

Sounds like my sleep pattern. I graduated though so I don't have to be up for school.

Do you consume any caffeine before bed, that could cause it.

1. Stay up for at least 24 hours
I suggest making coffee, putting it in a thermos, and playing video games or doing something stimulating so that you don't accidentally fall asleep. Also make sure to not eat or use the computer for about an hour before you sleep.
2. Go to sleep at desired sleeping time (mine is 10:00PM)
3. Wake up whenever
4. Go to sleep at same time, this time setting at least three alarms (I have one at 7:00AM, one at 8:00AM, and one at 8:30AM) for 8-10 hours later.
5. Sleeping is now fixed

1. Stay up for at least 24 hours

Unless you're really sensitive it wont...

I take this stuff every night, it also comes in 5mg. Also, it's not a prescription.

I got sick from staying up at a lock-in when I was younger.  I slept from 7am-4pm and woke up with irritated everything.  Doesn't happen anymore though.

OT: I couldn't fall asleep until almost 3am last night.

See a doctor or something, taking advice from the internet is bound to kill you.

Obviously.  Doctors don't know what they're talking about.
