Author Topic: Pass' DRPG Server  (Read 12636 times)

far into development

$DRPG::Version = 0.10;

DRPG was far from finished.

Cyn should just host his own server instead of loving with Pass's.

I second this. Cyn should let his ideas run wild. Maybe even change the fact that DRPG is grind hell?

i never said 'finished', but i guess 'far' gets across the wrong idea, but 'locked in' does as well

once the idea has been executed, accepted, worked with, and other things built around it, it's hard to make severe changes to it.

Nice one Ike. *Highfive*

That is just mean
SERIOUSLY WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE AUTISM

if you're aiming to re-create an experience in a new environment rather than make a new one, my first choice would probably be one of the elder scrolls games. of course, that also requires a level of polish to make it work well.

I don't know how to explain myself well, I have a hard time putting my thoughts into words lmao

Basically I want the idea of nothing really being 'historically accurate' or 'realistic', DRPG had quite a sense of fantasy to it, even though it had realistic gameplay

Eg; ores that don't exist, currency being plastic, etc

However, I want to change how the game actually plays entirely

yeah i just meant mechanically though

I'll have to explore my options when I get started, I'll probably do a lot of thinking about it before I even touch TS

As for me, I've already done a lot of reworking to DRPG and will probably continue.
If all goes well, there will be some grinding, but no linear tiers, no resets required, a purpose for PVP, and the game can still function without requiring any sort of admin.

grinding can still exist in a game and it still be good, but the main thing is that players have to feel like they're choosing to grind rather than needing to to progress

runescape is a p good example of this (although it's a bit borderline) because you have other options to level up (minigames and quests), but you may prefer grinding to those if you don't feel safe/whatever. the reason why it's borderline is because the available alternatives aren't always reliable, safe, feasible, effective, or something like that

i don't understand why you're still arguing this point. theres a handful on this forum who have some sort of undefined grudge against grinding, and thats okay. look at the facts. i've have 40+ players for the past week or so every day, and im adding new content every day too. it doesnt matter if you dont like grinding; the fact is that whatever appeal DRPG gives to players, its working.

i don't feel like re-stating things for a third time to address your 'playerbase' so i won't

i wasn't meaning to argue anything by saying this and i have no idea why you're so defensive about something you didn't even make

im not defending DRPG. it clearly does have flaws and the reason players play it is because the bar is low. grinding is a tedious gameplay mechanic and is overused in drpg. yeah yeah, this is all true. what im saying is that your argument is pointless because its not going to have any affect at all. you're basically spamming my topic with your opinion. if you want to talk to cynical about his RPG take it to PMs because this is clearly named "Pass' DRPG Server," not "Cynical's in-dev RPG".

that's fair enough, and i will avoid further conversation of rpgs and rpg design because it is not relevant to the topic nor is it useful to discuss in the context

i care too much about rpg gamemodes for some reason

Pass isn't taking your advice because he has no way to institute it. He modifies DRPG and that's all.

Pass y u gotta be so mean to otto? He's right you know
