Kerosene is not a good way to heat your place.
no other choice, it's 3f outside and this place will only stay a few degrees above the outside temperature unless you have something to change that. Without that killing machine that's a few feet from my head we'd just freeze and get hypothermia.

Invest in some blankets and thermal undies.
You might not have another heat source, but I wouldn't trust your smoking, CO spouting explosive heater.

You should try and get a tiny electric heater, those heat a fair amount, and they are cheap.

Yeah, fan heaters are a better option for your situation

that heaters is not vented correctly

you should never smell kerosene in large quantities coming from it

of course there is also the possibly that it hasn't been maintained in a while

just take a hot shower

My dad likes using the furnace as little as possible (we run on propane).  We have like 6-8 electric heaters all over the house which run all the time while the furnace is at a low temperature and it usually does the job.

You'll always smell the strong smell of a kerosene heater.

just take a hot shower
No shower, only bath. When getting out of the bath you just freeze because the bathroom gets none of the heating.

Maybe you should get a

heater

Heating? Who needs heating?

Maybe you should get a

-propane-
heater
But a

heater will cost a lot, because of the prices of the propane and the gas we'll spend getting to somewhere that sales propane

Maybe you should get a

heater

I smoke propane, so that would be wasteful.

so dangerous it has to be put in a cage

In that case for the last ton of years we've been using faulty kerosene heaters. Although only like 2 out of the tons we had messed up. A kerosene heater will always put out a smell because of the burning gases.
