You should have never admitted to skipping school. Shoulda claimed your parents called you out. The police woulda called your parents, but if they were smart at all they would have said that they indeed called you out even if they hadn't.

Also, I woulda walked away if some guy pointed a .45 at me. He had no reasoning that you were committing a crime and if he'd shot you he would have gone to jail for a very long time. Even if he was dumb enough to shoot, it's ridiculously difficult to hit a running target.
