Camera lens question

Hey, does anyone know of the name of lens I'm talking about?
They are those lens that can take pictures in the dark without it looking extremely pitch dark.
They are sort of purplish, I think.
And I think they are german.
Can anyone help me out here? Thanks.

They are those lens that can take pictures in the dark without it looking extremely pitch dark.

I'm pretty sure any lens on earth can do this with a large aperture, high ISO, or long exposure or any combination of those. Your probably looking for a len with a large maximum aperture (closer to f stop 1, the larger), so look for a len that has a aperture that isn't something relatively high like f 5.6, the lower it is, the more light but less DOF in the image, but a small DOF can be good in a image as well.
