Author Topic: do you guys have to be this mean to the steam users?  (Read 3098 times)

Dang, it was way different when I joined Blockland. I don't ever remember people doing this sort of thing to me or any other new players back then.

I like to help new players. I give them tips and stuff. I helped a few people download RTB a few days after Steam release.

Same, first server I joined, the ScatteredSpace Dogfight, I asked what seem to me now as dumb questions but at the time it was just stuff I didn't know how to change, like my draw distance, and the users were more than glad to help me see farther than 20 studs.

im fine with new steam users. If someone just acts like "hey look its a blockhead ._.", it really gets under my skin.

I had to ask how to open the JVS doors when I joined a server with them. It was crazy. <- Proved I didn't know what "OnActivate" was either at the time xD.

I try to help out the people on the steam discussion but I don't know to much at all. So often times I can't help.

if someone quits the game because people online hurt their feelings, they prob shouldnt be playing online games in the first place

I get so mad when a new user is bashed on. I don't know much, but I love helping.

I always explain any question readily and to my knowledge unless I'm right in the middle of something.

You missed the whole point.

I haven't been being mean to new users. If a new user asks a question regarding how to play, I have always been more than happy to explain to them. I haven't seen too much ID discrimination, but definitely some.

I hosted a server for a whole week and taught tons of new users how to do things. :c

I'm not going out of my way to find the newcomers, but if they come to a server I'm at, I do my best to teach them, unlike most other people. If some people have nothing better to do than hate on newcomers, they don't need to be here. I rarely go to a server I'm not admin on, so I'm able to protect the new Steam users.

What if some popular server hosts added rules that punishes ID discrimination and bashing on newbies with bans? It would help alot, since alot of people playing on those is the "bad cream", those that seem to think they are master race and hate on everyone even 40k. Also, someone should really make a dedicated FAQ/tutor guide on steam, hell maybe even a new site, that is dedicated to teach the more advanced and commonly asked things about Blockland.
