Author Topic: Do you think the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi will go wrong?  (Read 2217 times)

I really hope everything goes okay. The Chechens and Russia have a big history though and who knows. If they do something one thing is for sure though, Putin will probably flip stuff and launch an all out assault.

Even though they're pretty crazy I doubt they'll cause a lot of damage before being killed or otherwise reprimanded. Our army loving breaks vodka bottles with their skulls once a year without any ill effects, I'm sure the jihad wannabes in Chechnya won't stand a chance.

The State Department now has issued a travel warning to all Americans attending the Sochi Olympics: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/01/10/sochi-travel-alert_n_4577659.html

Wow, this is really becoming a major concern.

considering the chechens have already bombed one major international event, what's stopping them from doing it a second time?

NEWS:

NEW threats come about by two men who claim responsibility for the 2 previous sucide bombings: http://news.nationalpost.com/2014/01/19/islamic-militants-threaten-to-strike-tourists-at-sochi-olympics-as-they-claim-responsibility-for-Self Delete-bombings/

They claim that "they have a present for the tourists". Putin came out a few days ago stating: "We have a full understanding to what's going on".

I really hope the security tactics work.

Just saw on the news that they will have emergency services and a whole bunch of helicopters to transport US Officials should something happen.

I don't think that'll be enough, only about 500 US intelligence officials will be there and a couple thousand Russian officers on guard who will be responsible for over a million people.

omg!1!1!!1! dey kill every1

OT: Na, the security is the best its ever been!
no terrorist anywhere in Sochi

im sure something will happen, but it would be minimized because they are ready for it.

It will be fine, the russian security knows what they are doing. In fact if a terrorist tried to strike, they would be bound to never be heard from again.

i don't think any forumers would buy tickets to see the olympics lol
Really because I have tickets to the mountain cluster events. Ski jumping/snowboard

the worst thing that the terrorist group could have possibly done was announce that they were going to do something because their cover has been blown and there is little to nothing they could do at this point

Why the forget do terrorists warn people ahead of time that they're going to bomb them?

It kinda ruins the whole plan.
