Author Topic: So i'm going to get Rosetta Stone.  (Read 3030 times)

Pimsleur method is a lot more useful imo

They're all hard languages, and only Mandarin will be fairly useful in the long-run. Have you ever had a language tutor? Usually they help more than Rosetta Stone, but we all have our own different ways of learning and picking up things.

like kawaii japanese won't be completely useful and convenient

It's a waste of money.  Don't do it.  It's best to enroll in an actual class if you want to learn the languages.  A nearby public university will likely have those languages available, not to mention they will likely have a really good program.

My great grandparents are deaf. I never learned sign language so my mom has to translate for me lol.

I don't see how it would be very practical out in the world unless you're going to be working with deaf people

Deaf people are everywhere on this the earth.

It's a lot more likely people are going to encounter a foreigner who cannot speak their own language than a deaf person

When I was quite a bit younger, my family tried Rosetta Stone and I hated it. Just the first lesson frustrated me so much I started crying.

you literally picked the worst possible languages for a beginner. start on latin based languages, they keep the same characters and are easier.
get the duolingo app. it's awesome for learning languages if you're dedicated.

I've heard of that, it looks like the biggest fraud I've ever seen.

Maybe you should take a language class for English.

He's deaf, by the way, and sign language has a super different language structure than normal English.
