Author Topic: Apple Charging Cables  (Read 725 times)

So I'm looking at maybe buying a nice charging cable for my iPod (it's a 4th gen,  not 5th). I'm sick of apple cables falling apart and needing to be twisted around in order for it to charge, so I want something that's really heavy duty. I'm not sure if I'm gonna buy one, but I still wanna look around. Anyone have any suggestions? I was looking at this one, which is made by Amazon, so I know it can't be that bad...

How about you just look after your stuff and buy an Apple cable instead? I've never had any cable fail on me ever, not sure how people break stuff so easy.

I'm never harsh with it, I just keep it plugged into my computer and plug my iPod in there, and it still falls apart. IDK why, but I already am being fairly careful.

The only reason something breaks is from abuse. It didn't break from just sitting there. Even if you use it while its plugged in, the movement of the phone from point A (charging spot) to point B (in your hand to check a notification) will wear it out in a month or two. I don't know if Apple designed it like that on purpose, but it makes them buckets of money.

i have a dock that i keep plugged to my computer always so i dont have to hazzle with the cords

The cable itself is at least a couple years old. I have one that's pretty much completely worn through, yet it still somehow works. You can use it until you get another one.

Apple cables are notoriously easy to break. Best shot is to buy a non apple brand cable, they are cheaper and last longer.

Not at all. I've only had one apple cord break on me, and a couple non-apple brand cords break. And if I'm not mistaken, the apple one stopped working because it was wedged behind my bed (so when I went to unplug it, I would be pulling on the cord at an angle).

My macbook's power cable is weird

It's only been 4 years and it's already being defective

My cat ate one of mine.

The reason why they are breaking is because of the stress you are putting on either end of the cable. Perhaps what you should do is get a longer cable.

The standard is 3 feet.

isn't there a apple plug to USB adapter or something?
then you could use any of the million better cable options that they make for normal electronics.

apple stuff lol

I've never broken/replaced any cable tmk in my whole life lol
