Author Topic: BLF Rules Revision  (Read 4680 times)

I've noticed that the rules have some holes in them, and that people get banned for reasons that are not listed here.  Usually, common sense would keep them from doing things, but...

I'm posting some of what I think should be added to the 'rule book'.

Quote from: Blockland Forum Rules
1. Do not post ambiguous topics.  The title of your thread should describe its contents.  If you are asking a question, there should be a question mark at the end.  Ambiguous topics will be locked.

Examples of bad topic titles:
•help!
•idea i just had
•question...
Examples of good topic titles:
•Game crashes when I paint a brick blue
•How do I ban people?
•Map Idea: Mars Base

2. Do not post adult content. - That means no nudity or gross stuff.

3. No warez - Do not talk about pirating software at all.

4. Use the Search feature before posting a question.

5. Do not plea for sympathy
•Do not make posts about how you are leaving the forums. Just leave.
•Do not make posts about how the game isn't fun for you anymore.  Just stop playing.
•Do not make posts about how you are going to kill yourself.  Just do it.

6. Think before you post - Completely unintelligible posts will be locked.

7. Do not flame - If the entire point of your post is to tell someone what an idiot they are, don't bother.

8. Do not cross post. - Do not post the same thing in more than one forum.

9. Do not advertise other forums

10. No pyramid/referral schemes -  No one is going to give you money or an iPod/flatscreeen monitor/xbox 360/whatever just for getting people to click on some crappy link.  It's a scam to get you to spam forums for them.  Stop posting this crap.

11. No chain-letter style spam - Copy and paste this message into 5 threads and you will be permanently banned.

12. No Trolling - If the sole purpose of your post/thread is to anger/bother other users, you will be banned.  Bumping old controversial threads for no reason for the purpose of causing new fights counts too.

13. Do not post/ask for previous versions for Blockland. - Two versions requires extra downloads and can crash users.  It also allows for a lot of traffic over the master server, which doesn't have the power for it.

14. Do not post fake ban messages. - You have no reason for it, and it just confuses people.

15. Do not argue with the moderators. - If you have a problem, send an e-mail to support.  Do not cause drama over it here.

16. Do not ask to be banned. - Very self-explanatory, and your request will be granted.

17. Do not openly discriminate people for their Blockland ID. - Don't give new people a hard time.  Going out of your way to make their time horrible will get you banned.

Welp, that's what I have.  Feel free to add any more.  I'll quote your posts in the OP.

17. Do not bump old topics -Bump a 3 year old topic and you will be banned forever.

17. Do not bump old topics -Bump a 3 year old topic, I dare you!
you cant

18. Do not discriminate high key IDs, remember there will always be someone lower than you are, bub.

17. Do not bump old topics -Bump a 3 year old topic and you will be banned forever.

I should add bumping worthless topics, since I've been banned for it before.  But on very old topics:

you cant

A topic expires after like a month or two.

18. Do not discriminate high key IDs, remember there will always be someone lower than you are, bub.

Excellent one.

18. Do not discriminate high key IDs, remember there will always be someone lower than you are, bub.

petty rule

18. Do not discriminate high key IDs, remember there will always be someone lower than you are, bub.
It is deeper then just high key IDs. It is any ID at all. Be it 80k, or 8k. Refine it to something along the lines of
18. Do not discriminate a player based on their ID.

I would like that in the rules there's a note that says where are the rules applied

Example:

Don't care don't post - blahblahblah

This rule(s) are only applied for (section here) section

Because I confuse, specially in this rule, about if this rule is only applied in drama section or all forums

12. No Trolling - If the sole purpose of your post/thread is to anger/bother other users, you will be banned.  Bumping old controversial threads for no reason for the purpose of causing new fights counts too.
This one is unlisted for a reason.
A "no trolling" rule would likely attract trolls anyway. (learned this from personal experience)

But this is the main reason behind why "no trolling" is an unlisted rule:

The idea is to punish trolls.  Clearly you think this is some kind of game whereby you can't say certain things or you get banned tee-hee but really it's just ridding the forums of starfishs.

That doesn't make any sense at all.

Most of these are just common sense...

We have had this topic created multiple times now. Badspot chooses how he wants the rules and how he would like them communicated, so if he seessaw something he feelsfelt that hashad a hole in it, he would have done that a long time a go. Most of the rules you guys...

"no trolling"
"no id discrimination"

are self-explanatory and should be expected upon through common sense.

Can't expect everyone to have what would be considered common sense to the next guy.

If they don't have the average common sense an average Joe would carry in his skull, then they should be banned anyway.
