New avatar can't be saved how do I fix this?

I'm trying to upload my new avatar and I'm getting this error message:

Your attachment couldn't be saved. This might happen because it took too long to upload or the file is bigger than the server will allow.

Please consult your server administrator for more information.

The avatar is a jpg, properties says its size is 4.92kb and size on disk is 8kb. I'm really hating my current avatar and I have no way of replacing it because of this error.

fixed it all I did was change the file type to .png I guess blf doesn't like jpg's.
