Author Topic: Why does my computer struggle to run shaders  (Read 1664 times)

I upgraded from the GT430 to the Radeon HD 6670

I also upgraded from my stuffty cpu to a better APU (mistakenly got an apu)

Now, I could run shaders on max until the brick count got slightly high with my GT430, now I can barley run it on high at about 200+ bricks

Any reason for this?

I have a higher amount of ram (4gb) but only 2.98 is useable if thats the issue

/help

If you need any information of my comp, just ask

Double post to correct myself: Replicate the issue and then post console.log

Console.log attached

My APU: AMD A8-5600k APU with Radeon HD Graphics 3.90ghz

Make sure computer is using the video card instead of the APU?
Did you update drivers when you switched to the radeon?

Drivers are already up-to-date
I'm pretty sure my computer is using my Radeon

Quality Help

NVIDIA cards seem to perform better with OpenGL (the graphics library Blockland uses) compared to AMD/ATi cards. While some cards may appear equal in benchmark tests, real world performance varies.

nvidia cards perform significantly better with shaders. an old gt 620 was able to max out shaders with a decent amount of bricks, a 7770 i tested was about the same. even though the gt 620 is at least 5 times worse theoretically. it ran all other games even worse than intel hd though
