Author Topic: No audio on Laptop.  (Read 1041 times)

So as you already know my laptop is falling apart. The screen stopped working today so Im forced to plug it into the monitor. It is not an HDMI monitor so it plugged in this the other cable (Not sure the exact name). The problem is that I now have no audio. If I try to control it with keys on the laptop nothing happens. In the bottom right corner is shows that it's muted but when I click it, it gives me the troubleshooting menu. When I go to the manage audio devices the only Playback device its giving me is "Digital Display Audio - 2 - AMD High Definition Audio Device "Not plugged in""

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

do you happen to own any speakers

just get a new one, a laptop is not worth that much trouble
in the meantime however, I'm pretty certain that what it's wanting you to do is plug speakers into the monitor

I do and I tried plugging them into the laptop but it does not (Im guessing) recognize them in the audio devices

We can't get a new laptop until my dad goes back to work. Other than the fact its falling apart its really not that bad of a laptop.

Have you tried a reboot?
Yea.

Ive tried using my turtle beaches too.

So wait, are you using an adapter through the HDMI port or are you using the VGA port?

HDMI carries audio and video but no other standard does, so you might be losing it through an adapter.

VGA port
then I have speakers hooked up to the laptop

I tried it on my HDMI TV through the HDMI port obviously and that worked fine. When I plugged it in a message box popped up saying that I have connected an audio device and asked me if I want to configure it.

already checked and I did all the latest window updates too
