Author Topic: Graphics cards... What to look for?  (Read 1469 times)

I'm looking for a new graphics card and I'm wondering what specs or whatever I should be looking for. How do you determine which card is best for you? Do you have any particular suggestions?

My budget is $100.

budget of 100 is very low, the best you can get is an amd 7770
edit; actually, i found a gtx 650 ti for 100 which was for some reason way cheaper than average. get it instead, its about 15% faster than the 7770.

7770 is a nice card. It can run Blockland on max.

What are your computer specs? If you don't know I would suggest speccy, it'll tell you what mobo/cpu you have. you might want to check your psu too

don't get the 7770. get the gtx 650 ti i posted. its almost 20% faster on average than the 7770. plus it can run shaders completely maxed out with a bunch of bricks, so thats a plus

wow where was that when I bought my 7770 :(

don't fret, the gtx 650 ti averaged about 150-160 back then, for some reason zotac just decided to sell them at 100
but it could stay for only a short time so its a good idea to buy this card as fast as you can, op

Where was that? I looked at the 650 TI earlier and it was about $130.

The 7770 is also over my budget.

I was looking at the Radeon 6670. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102950
It looks like it should be able to handle most games on medium at least.

My board is PCI-e 2.1. I should have mentioned that earlier, sorry.

3.0 is backwards compatible, no worries. You'll only lose 2-3 frames per second compared to a 3.0x16 slot if you use 2.1

I have a PCI-E 2.0 slot and my PCI-E 3.0 video card works fine on it. Definitelly get the ZOTAC Geforce 650 Ti that Omicron Corp gave the link to in his post. That's a cheap price and you'll get a great card.

ZOTAC is probably the worst brand for a video card out there
