Canadian Conquest v2 - Maple, now with rejuvenating properties!

Welcome to Canadian Conquest! Again! You are Canada and you want to take over the world because you are out of space to put your maple trees. Your goal is to take over at least 50% of all land. Try to stay on good terms with nations, so residents will not rebel.

Here is a map:

Red - Owned territory (Part of Canada!)
Maroon - Allied territory (Convince them to join you!)
Black - Neutral territory (Hunt for these!)
Teal - Rival territory (Keep an eye out!)
Cyan - Enemy territory (War!)

Rules:
- Don't create unneccesary wars. You don't want the entire world to hate you.
- I will veto ridiculous suggestions. My word goes above yours.
- Me and only me will control other nations. Don't worry though, I want you to win.
- Work together! If you post a suggestion and everyone else disagrees, it won't happen. I may or may not run polls.
- No powergaming or overpowered weapons (nukes).
- You have a budget to work on, and you cannot go past it.

- The United States are a good place to start allying as you already have good relations with them, but they are too strong to start taking over. Other nice nations might include the UK and Australia, but they might be a little too far for now.

The maple trees aren't really the point but I needed some kind of backstory. Also, it is not as simple as just "taking" a region. You must either negotiate or fight the owner; negotiations will usually involve money but if you can trick them by allying with them, trading, and slowly coming to better and better terms you can establish yourself better there before taking the territory. It may lower the price or get them to agree more readily to throwing their land away.

EDIT: I might later add some kind of benefit to growing maple trees; most likely extra revenue, but you can also withhold that delicious amber nectar from nations unwilling to bow down to you. For now, I just want to get the RP going. I also just realized I missed a spot on the map where red should be :P

But we need to develop brainwashing maple trees first! It would take foverever and cost a lot, not to mention how suspicious people might be, and if you get busted...

You could sell or give regular maple trees to try and influence people more and build a stronger relationship with the US.
