Author Topic: Laptop Still Broken -- UPDATE  (Read 517 times)

Around 2 months ago, my dad hit my laptop screen with a wet rag.

I found a VGA wire and connected it to the screen of my TV I use for PS3, PS4 etc. The TV displays my school laptop's screen fine and dandy; my laptop... not so much.

This is an oddity, because my laptop screen does turn black and turns back, basically meaning it does recongize the connection. My TV then takes off the "no connection" bar, but yet just shows a black screen. This means both sides are accepting a connection but no visuals are being preformed.

Yes, my laptop's GPU is fine because there are visual shifts when I press the Windows Key and my laptop's brightness is editable.

Any clues?

Maybe some water went into the computer?

Maybe the cable which connects the laptops display to the gpu got knocked out of place.

I wouldn't see how this would be happening, my laptop does send signals because the screen does respond to input.

maybe the cable is half in and half out. if not idk then sorry. :/

How wet was the cloth and how the forget do you break a computerscreen with a rag?

Use a different operating system (preferably Linux on a USB drive) and see if it works.

What are we professional computer fixers?

Maybe some water got into the computer when your dad hit the screen with the wet rag as Zacks said. You can also try taking it to a computer repairing place and they may be able to find the problem and fix it.

Maybe your computer screen is dead. You may have to hook it up to an external moniter unless you already tried.

As Zacks said, maybe the water got into the computer and probably messed up some of the stuff like the Motherboard or something. Water and electric stuff aren't best friends so if the water got in then it may have messed up some of the stuff in the computer.

I'm no computer expert so you may need to take it to a computer repair place or something.

My dad threw it at me and it hit my screen.

It was also very wet.

If the water got on my motherboard, my computer wouldn't even turn on, lol. Computer repair places always throw in stuff like "You have a virus on your computer, how about I install Norton on it without your permission" or "Oh, it looks like your motherboard is loose from it's spot, I fixed it, so give me 100 dollars on top of the 150 dollars it cost for me to replace your screen."

I tried a different screen and it works, but the dimensions are forgeted up so I have to live with it until I my new screen comes and I install it.

Ok then. Now you must be patient.
