Individual pilots know
As a pilot, you can ask for your ground speed and it's broadcasted for all to hear. There are massive military bases all along the East Coast, and you can listen in on radio and hear the speeds

Do I completely trust anyone or any source?
No.
So I'll stick to Wikipedia + a couple hundred miles extra. If Wikipedia says Mach .9, I'll just say Mach 1 and be good. Not like I'm doing experiments on the forums
