Author Topic: Part of Corvette Museum eaten by sinkhole [Recovery: 8/8]  (Read 6161 times)

I'm one of the people who wonders why corvettes even have a museum
because they're like one of the most popular cars ever made

why don't they check for stuff like this.

like really how hard would i be to drill a hole and see if there's a sink hole under something.

Maybe it shows that it doesn't take millions of years for a cave to form  :cookieMonster: I'm sure there would be some sort of precautions taken before anything gets built, especially near a cave system.

Like...every legendary car has a museum somewhere.

I wonder what the prices of those corvettes are now that there's less of them.

You'll never find another 1,000,000th Corvette. I'm hoping the cars can be recovered and restored.

Kentucky has a LOAD of caves and cave systems. Its hard to not build on a cave.
I'm actually sitting ontop of mammoth cave right now.

Yeah when I was down there I went to Mammoth Cave.

No car has a 1,000,000,000th.  I doubt there are even 1 billion cars total in the world (could be wrong though, should look it up)

Mammoth Cave is amazing isn't it? One of the entrances to it is only 2 miles away :D

And I highly doubt there is a billion cars in the world

good thing I'm not a car enthusiast.
I passed that phase in fourth and fifth grade.

Yeah it was like 95 degrees when I went.  Normally we would have kept our dogs in the car, but we had to board them all day.  After they were boarded we went to the Corvette factory (saw ZR1s on the assembly line  :cookieMonster:), then went to the museum where we took pictures of like 40 different cars (the two I posted included that are now down in that hole), and finally went to mammoth cave.  Went from like 95 degrees outside to 75 under the trees to like <60 down in the cave.  I wanted to live down there.

I remember reading an article about the number of cars surpassing 1 billion a couple years ago.

Yea, it gets hotter than hell in this state at times. Caves always have a constant temperature too.

I've never been to the museum myself, I've seen the signs but could never go.

If you've ever heard of Meramec Caverns (hideout of Jesse James' gang), I live about 30 miles from that.
