which is why opinions can vary.
Opinions are subjective.
As I said earlier, science needs objectivity.

Woah that was so hard.
Are you completely dense, or did you just ignore half of what I said?
I directly acknowledged Gender identity disorder, but I also explained why it doesn't apply in many cases.
The very page you linked lists social isolation, anxiety, loneliness and depression as symptoms of the disorder. If they are transgender but do not display these symptoms, then they don't have the disorder, because they don't meet the requirement of having their life negatively impacted in order to qualify as a disorder (see below)
Besides, if it's not a disorder, then why should insurance/the government pay for its treatment?
In cases where it is an actual disorder, then because it should be.
But in cases where it's not a disorder, there's really nothing to treat, except for perhaps love reassignment surgeries, which I
believe are considered cosmetic, and therefore not covered by most insurance plans
It certainly does affect their ability to live, what. Try asking any gay fella how his life was a hell of indecision and confusion for weeks to months after realizing he likes richards.
I can tell you this from personal experience because I went through this myself: the
only reason there's any "indecision and confusion" is because of the fear of other people. If nobody had
any negative opinions towards, I would have just been "well, I guess I like that. Ok then" and it would be done. Mental disorders are not defined based on other people's reaction to them.
The problem here is a stigma around mental illness.
No, the problem here is people using the term "mental illness" incorrectly. You can't just apply the term to whatever you want
S: (n) mental illness, mental disease, psychopathy (any disease of the mind; the psychological state of someone who has emotional or behavioral problems serious enough to require psychiatric intervention)
A mental illness is a medical condition that disrupts a person's thinking, feeling, mood, ability to relate to others and daily functioning. Just as diabetes is a disorder of the pancreas, mental illnesses are medical conditions that often result in a diminished capacity for coping with the ordinary demands of life.
But a mental health concern becomes a mental illness when ongoing signs and symptoms cause frequent stress and affect your ability to function. A mental illness can make you miserable and can cause problems in your daily life, such as at work or in relationships.
A mental illness can be defined as a health condition that changes a person’s thinking, feelings, or behavior (or all three) and that causes the person distress and difficulty in functioning
Neither homoloveuality, or transgender (except for cases of GID, which I'm not arguing with you about, but not all cases of transgender fit under GID) fit these definitions
