:cookie:Blockland Memories
The good times, before v19, the maps, the deathraces, the bedroom battles, the hidden secrets in maps, the kitchen, when the most people on a server was 20 a day, when people were making youtube videos, when people would dogfight on the slopes, everything was great.

 Don't you miss this all?

Maps didn't leave until V21, I don't see why you are trying to restrict it to pre V19 stories only.  Besides, maps were old and outdated, and it kind of encouraged an new type of building, which is terrain building, and has made the creation of custom terrains much easier.

Builds also improved some.

You make it sound like Blockland was much better back then than it is now.

It's nice that you have some good memories of previous versions of Blockland, but don't turn this into a "Blockland sucks now" topic.

you guys do know the maps added all of about 10 min of playable content right?
i mean blockland as a building game and being moddable, is basically unchanged with or without them.

You're right, in the same way that maps provide content for games like COD, BF4, HL2, ect.

the need for maps on a fps are not even slightly comparable to blockland, a sandbox building game.

If you think any of those games, apart from the camera and movement system, are in any way related to Blockland then you are highly mistaken.

I guess I can contribute a story that I haven't really shared.

I don't know who the host was, but I had a CityRPG that I loved to play for a long time in 2008-09.  It had two completely separate towns with a highway in between them (highway took probably like 5 minutes to pass by car, so it was a long one).  I remember that I was a pickpocket and would go around bothering everyone trying to unload their stashes.  A couple things from that town:

1. The host was always driving around in a Harley running players over and driving between the two towns.

2. There was a teleport system to get in between the towns quickly.

3. There was this one cop who sold me a baton which pleased me to my greatest extent.

4. There was a guy named Damichael building a house, and I would keep ripping him off and taking his money.  He would scream and yell and hide in his house which encouraged me to stick around longer.

5. I rented out a hotel and the owner wouldn't let me build furniture.

6. Jail was utter torture.  One pickpocket crime was like 5 minutes in jail.

Maps for Blockland can serve an equal use, for a sandbox game. Maps were basically just giant builds that didn't effect brick count.

A large number or people loved maps (and still do), and now we have shaders that look awful and don't run for stuff on the toasters that most of the community uses. And thanks to the removal of maps we got in return a useless vehicle system while also destroying several great servers.

I am simply saying that maps are core features of every style of game, those are just the games that came to the top of my head.

Adventuring the Bedroom and trying to figure out why my game had extreme fog (it was the view distance).

Good times, especially better ones during Ski Resorts on the Slopes.
