Why is the avatar system so forgeted up?

Everyone seems to be having problems with avatars lately.

I tried to change my avatar to the hotdog thing, but it gave me the classic error message, even though I've used that avatar before with no issues



So then I try to use my old avatar with the spinning wheel thing and it works. Woo. Trying to change it to my old c&h avatar will change it to the one I just changed from(black tophat version). Trying to change it to anything else will just set it to the spinning wheel thing I haven't used in months.

When did the forum avatar system get so forgeted up? And why?

I emailed badspot about it yesterday. I'm sure he's aware of the issue though.

a while ago, he updated the forum software, and every user had his or her own url for all of their avatars, instead of there being a new url for every avatar uploaded, like it was before
it didn't start as soon as that change happened but based on the way the avatars appear to work (or rather, don't work), I think it's probably part of the problem (or at least related)
I can't remember when it actually started to have these problems, though. some time after I started using the green hydra avatar I had for a while

I'm starting to think that he's manually approving them or something, I tried to get my blue dog avatar back over two weeks ago, and it only got changed to it a day ago.

no, that isn't it. the other day different people were seeing different avatars for me. I was seeing one with transparency and a dumb white outline, on my phone I was seeing one with transparency and a heart, and someone else was seeing one with a pink background, and someone else was still seeing the green hydra
and these are all avatars that I attempted to upload recently (except the green one)

I had a similar circumstance, except it was one week instead of two.

the server database is being migrated to a host in los angeles so until then there are going to be some technical hiccups

pink background on phone. trans background on  pc. thats really weird
