Author Topic: OSX on my (empty) windows 7 PC?  (Read 957 times)

Hello, my windows 7 pc has been barfing out boot errors like a guitar drowning in mulch.
It looks like the operating system isn't booting up, and I'm going to take it to the store, since I have a warrantee.
I'm not exactly worried about it being wiped because I backed it all up two days ago since I knew this would happen.
If they have to install an operating system or whatever, is it possible for them to install OSX (the operating system that apple uses) onto my computer?
Of course I'm not switching to OSX, I just like the look of it, and in OSX it is really easy to duel-boot another operating system (Windows 7) onto your computer.
I can't get the exact specs for my computer (since it's toast right now), but there are stickers and stuff on my computer telling about the hardware.
also I wonder if I can dig up another topic where I posted the specs in the past, if so that'd be cool.

So, is it possible?

yes but hackintoshs are illegal???

It isn't a hackintosh if I somehow buy the operating system?

i'd love to get OSX on my laptop, but people are telling me it's not compatible with it

honestly i'm not surprised, this laptop is pretty sucky and i have to get it into certain positions to stop it from overheating and stuff

Just look up the proper specs for it and see if it matches

you're not allowed to run OSX on non-apple approved hardware

you're not allowed to run OSX on non-apple approved hardware

people have said this millions of times yet nobody listens lol

it is possible. the hardware is exactly the same.

it is not advised though because its breaking apples license use therefore illegal. buying it or not.

i just said this ugh

Ya dude Apple is gonna call the FBI on you if you install OS X.

You'd be violating Apples terms so I suggest

A) Buy an Apple Computer
B) Download Linux

He kinda said he wants OSX. :/

Somehow I doubt Apple is gonna go after you for buying OS X and just using it for hardware they didn't intend

Is this technically discussing piracy?

No, that would mean he downloads OSX illegally. He can own everything legally, but can't put it on a non-Apple computer legally.
