Author Topic: Workin' on a website!  (Read 1041 times)

I recently got back into web stuff, so I started the basic frame of a website: http://lloid.pancakeapps.com

The site is live (hosted on my Dropbox) and is updated as I work on the HTML and CSS files. Check back every once in a while for progress! Currently the only working link is the Home one, and will stay that way until I have a base template done.

Not really anything special at the moment, but I will (most likely) be updating it daily. If something looks weird, it will most likely be fixed quickly - I was probably tinkering or trying to figure something out.

This website, when done, will feature my music, art (drawings/photography/digital), and most likely any JavaScript tinkering I do as well.

Mobile users, at the moment it will look kinda weird for you, but that will be fixed tomorrow (I hope). Basically, I was switching up some things, but got tired of working on my iPod in bed, sooo... yeah. :P

Mostly stuff that I could potentially put in my college portfolio. This includes drawings, vector art, photography, and videography.

If you are going for a portfolio that includes drawings and mostly photography/videography I would rather recommend using a less futuristic font, when you use that font it brings the idea of 3D modelling or something game-related. Additionally the gradient on the top is too severe, I would make the gradient really bland if anything.

imo you should get rid of gradients (or make them blander like leet said), make text regular sans-serif, add something cool for logo and why do you have a bar at the left side when navigation's on the top

This won't actually be my portfolio; this is for portfolio-grade stuff. The main focus will be on my music; I probably should have made that clear (listen to some of my stuff and you'll see why I chose that font). I may increase the gradient size to see how it looks. Also, that font will only be used for stuff like menu links and titles and such.

No, trust me; the site's look is ruined with an average font. However, it will be used sparingly, so don't worry. A logo of some sort will probably be added as well, but I'll get to images later on. As for the side bar, well, it seems useless at the moment, but it'll have clickable stuff there when the site's done.

Try to avoid using too many fonts, one is the best generally.
It makes it look ugly.

Trust me, I know. But one themed font and one standard font is ok.

pls add one more thing: make it look like the website backround was made with ms paint
