Author Topic: Reduction in the army to Pre-World War II level  (Read 2931 times)

Apologies if this was already posted, but if not, hopefully this brings to your attention.  Before World War II our Military was not as it was now.  But the Pentagon is attempted to set budget cuts to set us back to how much smaller our military was.  Deductions in military spending is what it is.  Forces and weapons programs address the stark reality of growing budget pressures at home while pointing to the improbability that the United States will engage in a large ground war.

"The Army would be reduced to between 440,000 and 450,000 — a 10 percent deeper cut than originally planned and the lowest level since 1940, when it had 267,000 active members."

"Special operations forces will grow from 66,000 to 69,700 to deal with counterterrorism and crCIA response."

Yeah I would rather not learn one of the most complex languages to exist this day and age.  With all it's different hanzi symbols, It's not phonetic either.

It's funny how there are more people employed at walmart.

If you believe a single damn thing that comes out of the government's mouth, you're an idiot.

I'm fine with this. we shouldn't have had them to begin with.

mandarin sounds so stuff though

I don't mean to say that I know history better than the New York Times, but 1940 wasn't pre-world war II...

Funding armies is expensive. Many western European nations have cut back since the EU is keeping them together and the red bear is not as strong as it use to be. It is better to have smaller active militaries with a large reserve and militias since you will be saving money that way.

Also China lacks the resources to get a large part of their army out of the country. The United States is literally a fortress. It is big, vast, has many cities, gun owners, military defenses, and big distances to drive.
