Author Topic: My Dog(s) have Parvo  (Read 853 times)

So yeah, my Dog(s) contracted Parvo out of the blue, i still don't know how. There was no infected stool for them to eat.
This virus attacks the inside of their guts basically, causing vomiting and watery poo.
I have four five month old puppies.
Boo, Spot, Chewy, and Diablo.
Spot already died this morning, we didn't know it was Parvo, but when we got to the vet...
We can't put him in a grave, because Parvo lives on for like, years. So they have to burn him. We still get his ashes though. Boo looks to be okay. Chewy is in my room and i have him on pentacilian or whatever its called. It should keep his Zinc and hydration up.
Diablo is recovering, but that does not mean he can't die from lack of water.
I have no idea how to make them loving eat. All chewy does is just sit there on my bed. He didn't even take a stuff or piss this morning. Odd.

Help.

I hope your dogs get better, and I feel bad that they are all so young.

They've already had their booster shots.

Thats 2100 for all my dogs.

And yet, boom. Parvo.

are you kidding me m8

well if your trying to get them to eat start out with like wet canned dog or cat food
smells like treats to them yo

You're not going to be able to force them to eat as they will immediately just vomit it up. You just have to hope the meds work in a good amount of time.

Obviously doesn't and never has owned a dog.

OT:

Last year was my worst dog/pet year ever. The oldest dog, Becka, died in February 2013 from fluid in her lungs and old age. Second dog was mauled by the neighbor dogs and hovered near death for a week with recovery taking two months (three gaping wounds almost six inches in diameter on neck and shoulders with muscles and organ tissue visible for weeks, neighbors didn't bother compensating costing us $2k+). Third dog had multiple gastrointestinal problems resulting in being closed up a lot. Fourth dog had spinal and brain issues twice plus a massive gastrointestinal sickness leaving her with vomiting and bloody diarrhea. My cat went on a hunger strike from constipation and we had to choose between force feeding him (to prevent liver failure) or putting him down. The horse was the only one with no issues. Overall year pet cost was probably about $9k.

Thank you all, my dogs are fine at the moment. The remaining infected are to be sent to the vet at once.
Boo is to remain in my room, house is literally crawling with the virus.
