Author Topic: Can you increase datablock limit?  (Read 3652 times)

I've hit the data block limit every time I launch my freebuild

I agree I am working on a TDM and there are lots of brick packs, weapons, and other add-ons needed and it tells me I have gone over the limit. Thus meaning I cant finish it. D:

Just sacrifice ones that are less important. I've hit the datablock limit a few times ( guilty as charged ), so I took out some of the less necessary weapons and vehicles, then replaced those with ones who weren't removed.

You don't need 5 weapon packs at once.

why not increase the datablock in SINGLE player only instead of Multiplayer?
when you have tons of addons in multiplayer people need to wait for the stuff to download, but in single player no one is joining your server. when i mean increase it i don't mean increase it by thousands I mean a few more datablocks or something

the only time i've hit the limit is when i have /way/ too many mods on

i remember the mindset of "oh but i might use this", but that was in a very general mindset, not taking into consideration the content of my server

a freebuild doesn't need billions of weapons and vehicles
a TDM doesn't need 500 different kinds of guns
any other kind of server doesn't need a thousand varieties of any kind of mod

having millions of brickpacks on is just a bad idea in general because it just clutters the list and makes it tedious to navigate, plus cheater bricks often overlap, using up even more useless datablocks

There is a reason why we have a limit

Not all clients want to sit for an hour to just spawn, what if they get kicked or whatever, or because something in the datablock kicked him because of an error? Now he has to start all over.

Happens to me and all i use is events sounds particles ect. and i use all of them, but almost no weapons

$pref::real::dataBlockLimit=9001;
pretty sure that's worked for me in the past.

Nobody wants to see "Downloading file 1 / 400" on your stuffty deathmatch or whatever.

Delete system32, it has a lot of datablocks.

someone should make a datablock downloading simulator

someone should make a datablock downloading simulator

If the engine had a higher packet rate, we would have a higher datablock limit. But that's not the case.

The data block limit is fine where it is.
Lowering it would ruin about 4 of my projects so no, not that.
