Nobody wants to see "Downloading file 1 / 400" on your stuffty deathmatch or whatever.
I've had "Downloading file 1 of 1842" before

I've only hit the limit like once before with too many bricks

But come to think of it, don't default add-ons count for the limit? if so, they shouldn't because modter takes alot of datablocks last time I checked

Yes they count, but modTer is not one of the default add-ons that cannot be disabled.

But everyone has all the files downloaded, so what does adding it to the limit do? nobody will have to wait any longer

Ive downloaded heaps of weapons, but it wont allow me to have all of them.

Each brick only takes 1 datablock.
Each weapon, on average probably takes 8. (item, image, sound, projectile, emitter, particle, explosion, emitter, particle, sound, shell) [Not all weapons have their own emitters, particles, shells and sounds, but a majority of them have their own items, images, projectiles, and explosions]
Each emitter takes at least 2.
I don't even want to count vehicles.
A player, it depends if they're reusing the default datablocks the player normally uses or not. If it does, only 1 unless it comes with some special feature that requires datablocks.
The default game uses I forget how many.
Each color in your colorset uses 7 I think. (image, projectile, emitter, particle, explosion, emitter, particle)
Each song only takes 1.
Lights are 1.

The limit is 4096.
If you're even taking half the datablocks with weapons alone (that's 256+ weapons, assuming they all take 8 each), I would love to see the server that actually manages to use every single one of them, have every single one of them actually used at least once by the player population, and still have the weapons balanced.

I usually do not have more than 3100 datablocks on any Blockland servers which I publicly host.
