I'm trying to host a lan at school, I'm running the full version, and people are trying to connect with the demo. I select the LAN option when i host and it appears in their list but they can't join with the error "Doesn't appear to be a lan game".

Yes, the school computers are on a lan. It works with other games.

Go to your options menu and make your connection type LAN. Then you should be able to host it.

Generally school computers do not allow communication directly between two or more school computers. I doubt there is any way of bypassing this easily.

I don't actually play it all that much, I only just wanted to play a good game with some friends that isn't just LOL LET'S SHOOT EVERYTHING.

As I said before you can play most other games over LAN just fine.

Your lucky your school computers are any good. The ones at my school have less than 500mb of RAM and begin to get laggy on notepad.

Just though i'd say, bl0002 with RTB works fine on a LAN at school.

If thats the case then there probably is no way to make retail work because they both use the same ports and if the port isn't the problem then its something else that you might not be able to change.
