Even if I were to see him in real life, in the dark, I would probably get a little startled but scared? Not even a little.

It's more about the thought of his capabilities and stuff that makes him scary, not his physical appearance. It's like saying you wouldn't be scared if a guy wearing normal clothes starts walking towards you with a gun and you have nothing to defend yourself with.
