Author Topic: Question: Since RTB Hosting is gone, what hosting thing should I use?  (Read 3846 times)

I wanna be a client

You didn't respond tho.
Unfortunately, I don't have time to add more users right now, because I have to make some code.
Do you guys really trust him with your key
6 users so far did form HammerHost.
12 users did with HamHost.
So it's 18 users total who have though I am trustworthy enough.

hint: any server hosting service can decrypt your key. They are lying or ignorant if they say they can't (cough CBMHost cough) The big question is if you trust them not to.

EDIT: I just double checked CBM's website, looks like they aren't claiming secure keys anymore.

I don't trust anyone of these people running 'hosting services' what do I do

If you don't trust anyone, you should just host yourself.

If you don't trust anyone, you should just host yourself.
But the problem is, I can't host 24/7 and everyone would just get bad latency.

Ah, I figured there was another factor I wasn't seeing.

My first thought, honestly would to ask someone you've known awhile (or in real life) to host for you.
Since you're most likely not wanting to pay for better internet services, I think your out of luck. Sorry Zeblote.

What's the reasoning of your distrust with the 3 current services? (HammerHost, LugHost, CBMHost)

no that's 18 users desperate for a hosting service who don't think straight.

Oh god, make me stop laughing from this!

To be honest, this isn't bad. I acually told Cowboy6 to keep my key stored. He did, so he knows it. He hasn't done anything with it. Cowboy6, Mango Clinir121 are two of  the most trustworthy people on blockland. Just to let you know.

speaking purely logically, ignoring any perceived trustworthiness based on reputation or otherwise, I know that because my service is paid, it is more profitable for me to be honest and not steal keys. A free service would arguably turn a $20 profit by stealing a key. It'd be like stealing a gift card, only useable at one place, but I think you understand
This is pure numbers.

Our internet is actually pretty good (50/10) but I live in germany so latency would be high.

Well not trusting hamhost is obvious, especially because of his idiot brother who might sneak on his computer to do stuff, who knows.

Lughost is work in progress but seems to be coming along quite good

Cbmhost I don't know, it always says all slots are full, the website looks... uhh...let's say 'suspicious and not serious' especially because of webs (wtf)

Buy a VPS for $10/month off of ebay, cheaper than any host and more secure than any host can provide.

stuff, why didn't I think of that
$10 is so much cheaper than $8 or $0
And everyone here is capable of running a linux vps, or is satisfied with whatever piddly resources they'll provide...

Oh yeah, and unskilled users who just want a BL server are able to lock down their server tight, making it "more secure"

Yeah. Right. If you have the skills and want to manage a whole loving VPS, go ahead. If you just want a server with no hassle...
