Author Topic: What is the point of an overpriced "gaming" mouse  (Read 5603 times)

I use a normal mouse.
The one in the op looks horrid, why the hell would you need two bottom slates that probably don't turn with ease.
That's asking for carpel tunnel.

Funny you should mention that.
A lot of gaming mice are ergonomic, to, you know, STOP discomfort for gamers.

well believe it or not if youre into really e-sports like world of warcraft having a mouse like that is almost a requirement for PVP.

for example if you play a death knight in WoW you have roughly 25 spells you'd use in PvP, which means you need to map about 25 buttons at a minimum to be able to map them all. Then you need to keybind certain macros, for example you'll have one button that casts Chains of Ice, and then another button that casts Chains of Ice on the person targeting your healer. It ends up being about 40-50 keybinds for some classes and having 20 of those on your mouse is actually pretty convenient in hectic fights.

seriously? i take time to explain why a good gaming mouse is important and people ignore it and spend 4 hours ranting about how they're perfectly fine with using their $5 two-button mice even though they've probably never used a mouse as nice as the one in the OP in their entire life.

mmo XD

i require a mouse for competitive shooters.
something with a higher dpi, something with 2 eyes; 1 laser and 1 optical.

I am happy with my  default mouse and keyboard. The only gaming thing I own is the Logitech G930 that I got for free when a friend told me it was broken and I ended up fixing it.

I got a Natec Genesis GX69 for ~$37.

Has a adjustable palm rest, and since I have a big hand that was my selling point as it was the closest to a RAT.
Has 4000 DPI, optical (heck, I didn't see any difference between optical and laser but the DPI did help) and I have use for all the extra buttons, also auto fire button.
And while it's not exquisitely a feature, the braided cable is nice.

Yours is perfectly fine, I mean atleast it wasn't 200$ or something

Yeah, $200 is overkill.
Though Mad Catz is renounced for having overly expensive stuff, so there's that.
I mean they afforded to give me a free t-shirt at a convention.
And I kinda played around with their stuff, they aren't really bad and you can really see/feel the difference, but I don't really think it's that useful.
Like,

This is overkill, but I would still like one.

All of their pc stuff is over compensation to the max

I generally just ignore anything with the word "gaming" in front of it.

gaming I stole your watch

I've got a razer naga and it's really comfortable. I play some mmo's so the function buttons are actually pretty useful. Also dat click feels so good it sometimes gives me shivers.

hey if you want a mouse that is:
-american made (maybe)
-has a thumb rest
-has a pinky rest
-has good sensitivity
-has keys you can program
then you're not going to spend like $20

My mouse was 20$ on sale when I bought it. Looks flashy, has a DPI change setting (Extremely useful for planes in blockland and games), has a thumb and pinky rest, and a couple of programmable keys. It also looks nice and flashy

This is my mouse and it's incredibly useful. It's also not overpriced at all, it's only $35.

mine was cheap but the only thing i dont like about it is that the blue light doesnt turn off when my pc is off at night
