Technically speaking, I don't think the world is going to end. We're going to end, not the world. So probably a mass disease spreading or something changing the standards we have for living (water, oxygen, food, etc.)

Science creates a contagious virus that causes humans becoming furries and then the virus escapes and infects all of America and results in the production of furry paraphernalia infected with the virus that then gets shipped all over the world and then 78% of the world has turned furry and then the survivors resort to creating a massive missile base in Antarctica and then from there they nuke every square inch of the infected world then slowly repopulate but then the virus returns and the whole world is in war that results in a massive nuclear winter from orbital nuclear bombardment from surviving ships which then self destruct for no reason

My educated guess is that people will die to the hands of other people. Either nuclear war or a physics experiment gone horribly wrong, we will kill ourselves and everything around us.

How I'd LIKE the world to end is another matter. I'd one day hope that our earths magnetic shield will fail and oxygen will stop being produced from plants being killed. We'll start dropping like flies and it will be as painless as falling asleep.
