How are you planning on handling the inevitable DDoS? What do the TOS say about that?

I want all potential clients of HammerHost to consider this when you plan to buy a server:
For all you Lug-host clients, it's so sad that you will lose / already lost your hosting. I am willing to accept you into my hosting service, since I want to be nice and provide for the loss of hosting. For free.
Just PM me. I am not trying to advertise here, but notifying Lug-host's clients that I can take them after it ends.
I gave Hammereditor the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was just inexperienced, and for that reason he's a moron advertising his service in my own topic.
I have since reached the conclusion that he is definitely a moron, but he has assholish tendencies. Do you really want this in a host, even for free? It's like funding the politician you don't support.

I wanted a balanced market, Hammereditor. We have a community here where we were the only two businesses in town - in fact, we could've been good to each other, friendly and the like, helping each other out as professionals. Staying out of the other guy's topic, offering only purely constructive criticism - rather unlike Lub and his crew, who pummeled Kalphiter. You know how it was - you (or at least your brother) was there. We really could've made something awesome out of this. Not as partners, no, that would be too complicated - rather as professionals.

Turns out I'm just a loving naive moron.

Okay, I apologize, posting that was an idiotic move. My intention was to help all of those clients who lost their hosting, but looks like my message conveyed something different.

>host war
why dont yall work together and make a super mega cool ass thing?

No stuff. At least you have enough balls to apologize. Kudos for that. Even if it doesn't show you're malicious somehow, it shows you're inexperienced and can't phrase what you're trying to say correctly.

All of my backend and underlying system revolved around using Linux servers.
All of Hammereditor's revolves around Windows.

Plus I don't trust him enough.

Clarification - trust is multifaceted with me: One part is my belief that someone won't maliciously take advantage of me (which really isn't 100% with Hammereditor, but I guess it's enough). The other is the belief that the person I'm trusting is intelligent/experienced enough to handle whatever I'm entrusting them with. I do not believe Hammereditor has the knowledge I need to work on my systems. I have not seen it with him. I do not want to work on his systems.
I refuse to work under him, and I don't want him under me, and partners would be a power struggle. It won't work.

I'm not trying to troll you or hate on you Hammereditor, I'm not calling you stupid - I just don't think you have precisely enough knowledge you need for this.
Regardless, good luck.

How are you planning on handling the inevitable DDoS? What do the TOS say about that?
EDIT: To clarify, this community is a cesspool of morons. It has been growing worse since the release on Steam.
I knew it was only a matter of time before I got hit - the forums themselves, the auth servers, literally every hosting service has been hit at least once, some popular servers...
It's bound to happen eventually - you or someone on your service will piss someone off or someone will get bored at the wrong time and you'll find yourself on the receiving end of a .5Gbps DDoS.
Let me be clear that I'm not threatening you with an attack (I'm done with this hosting stuff.) - I just legitimately want to know whether you've learned anything from my service's toasted corpse and what you're going to do to prevent this from happening to you.

I'd say Hammer has a good comprehension of this hosting stuff.
So what you really mean is that he is unprofessional.

I feel like charisma... wasn't exactly his dump stat, but it wasn't the one he maxed out either.
Let's put it that way.

No stuff. At least you have enough balls to apologize.
I didn't think twice about my post and did not realize just how aggressive it is until after all of you read it. Well, I guess I'll tone down the advertising a little and restrict it to only PM's and my own forum topics.

First, it's not like I hate Linux. I originally planned to use Ubuntu for HamHost, but Wine ended up being a screw-up with Blockland servers. The whole system would get unstable if I hosted 3 or more of them simultaneously. Well I guess I did something wrong!

And I would say the whole "knowledge" part is a fair assessment. There is no way I could survive on an operating system without a GUI, especially a UNIX-based one. I am accustomed to opening up Command prompt or Terminal if I want to use the command-line.
Yes, you are correct, I only know basic things about Linux and bash. I could not survive on any kind of headless system.

To be honest, I am kind of paranoid about this after what happened to you. Okiver already threatened me 3 weeks ago and later said it was "fake". But I do not believe him.

I'll review the ISP's terms of service shortly, and come back.

use Ubuntu
Well I guess I did something wrong!
found your problem

That starfish is still around? He's probably the one who got me - I wouldn't be surprised.

try debian minimal for hosting???
I had a vps with debian and it ran with 48mb on idle using ssh and its a forget ton more stable

Yes, Okiver got wind of my upcoming hosting service and sent out a threat 3 weeks ago.

I was forced to use Ubuntu with MyHosting. I didn't have any trouble, but I literally didn't touch anything of the underlying system. If I had it probably would've blown up in my face.
95MB idle.

I would've gladly used Debian.

actually, 20mb on idle
48 with a teamspeak server.

Unfortunately, there has been a small, short DoS attack today:

This lasted for 10 minutes.
