I'm pretty sure the cat isn't asking for a hug. You have to realize that most of these emotions you think the cat is doing is just a coincidence because a cat does not possess specific human emotions. If you think a cat is smiling, it really isn't. It's just the way the cat looks because of its mouth. If you think a cat needs a hug, it doesn't. It's just stretching.
