Author Topic: Hard Drive Failure Body Count  (Read 1019 times)

My main HDD just pooted out, and I'm pretty bummed :(.
The files lost in the failure are as follows:
- PyBlockland
- A half finished Blockland Main Adventure Mode
- Parts of my Game Engine
- BLTerrain 2
- A 80% complete modification that would be a place holder for an ingame chatting system until BAM came up
- My resume :c
- A Python GUI Creator
- An awesome terrain generator that made super pretty terrain
- CityMod's stock market
- A Brick Terrain Editor.
and some other stuff that was pretty rad, if I think of I'll mention in a post.

EDIT:
I had a script that would take maps from v20 and export them as blockland save files without the need for Blockland v20.

Shoulda backed up that ass hard drive to another hard drive

Do you actively look at your S.M.A.R.T. stats for your hard drive?
If not I recommend doing so. c:
I found out my hard drive was failing before it pooted and I saved mostly everything.

how do i do this

so you really can't do anything?

that sucks bro

Take it to a computer place to check it, it may not be the hard drive and they may get somethings out of it.

dead hard drive =/= unrecoverable

the storage is still there (for the most part), and any semi intelligent computer company can recover a good portion of your files, although it may not be cheap where you are, depends of if the company knows their the only ones around that can do it

I understand, but I don't have a lot of money to spend recovering some data.
i could bring the HDD to a local place, but I doubt they could do much with it.

You can keep it until you can afford to pay data recovering or you can open it up, plug it in and fill it with glue for the lols.

I hear if you put a magnet to the side of it, it can move some things around and potentially fix it.
I'll try the strongest magnet in my house, wish me luck!

Good luck with that.

it worked, I was able to recover 500/600GB of DATA! jk I'm not handicapped
